More about Right To Play Occupied Palestinian Territories
Right To Play programmes in the Occupied Palestinian Territory were established in September 2004. Programming targets children and youth living throughout the West Bank including the areas of Jericho, Ramallah, Hebron and Nablus. It promotes holistic child development (physical, emotional, social) as a means to resolve sectarian tensions and foster long term peace and stability. Focusing specifically on vulnerable youngsters, disabled children and girls, our projects foster leadership, education, respect and tolerance at all levels of the community.
Right To Play’s delivery model utilizes international volunteers and staff alongside experienced local leaders. They in turn train individuals and teachers to become Right To Play coaches, who act as positive role models and champions of our work. With their help, we use sport as a bridge to understanding and peace in still fractured communities.
Our Schools Free of Violence campaign is implemented primarily in refugee communities and schools, enhancing healthy child development and conflict prevention through interaction between different political groups in a safe and inclusive environment. This grassroots approach demonstrates a lasting and incremental approach to conflict resolution directly tied to the universal language of sport.
