More about Right To Play Ethiopia
Right To Play has worked in Addis Ababa and its sub-cities since September 2002. Children participating in our programmes are often marginalized and excluded from educational opportunities by virtue of their disability. Right To Play programmes encourage universal participation and reduce the stigma surrounding disability; replacing it with a positive atmosphere reinforced by local role models and community play days/events.
Tools specifically designed for children with disabilities are implemented, teaching them important life skills while fostering peaceful behavior and health. Sports fields and play areas have been rehabilitated, giving disabled youth the chance to interact and play with other children, gaining confidence and important life skills. Our efforts have significantly enhanced social cohesion and inclusiveness on behalf of hundreds of disabled young Ethiopians.
Right To Play works in conjunction with the Ethiopian Paralympics Committee, Organization for Prevention, Rehabilitation, and Integration of Female Street Children, Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia, Ethiopian Gemini Trust, Worldwide Orphans, and GOAL Ethiopia. We involve local stakeholders as coaches and teachers at all stages of our programming, establishing infrastructure and fostering awareness and buy-in amongst those responsible for social inclusion in the long term.
