More about Right To Play Lusaka
Right To Play has been working in Lusaka since September 2002. Our programmes there focus on enhancing the rights of children to health using an activity-based module called Live Safe, Play Safe. It raises awareness and dispels stigmas surrounding HIV and AIDS using sport for development as a potent educational tool. This gives children the means to catalyse change amongst their peers and communities, promoting healthy life practices that can save lives.
Our delivery model utilizes international volunteers and staff alongside experienced local leaders to train individuals and teachers to become coaches. As positive role models, our coaches provide structured and supportive learning opportunities that ensure communities take ownership of the projects at the grassroots. The project works in partnership with local and international organizations. This demonstrates the transferability and utility of our programming in a wide variety of contexts. Local, regional and national bodies within Zambia supported by Right To Play now use our unique coach to child approach to offer psychosocial support for those impacted and vulnerable to HIV and Aids.
Right To Play works within the context of UNICEF’s projects: training coaches and engaging children in sport for development as a part of an already successful programme.
