More about Referee Scholarship
The Crew Soccer Foundation is committed to sharing our passion for soccer and to use it as a vehicle to help those in need. Without attempting to duplicate the work of other worthy organizations, the Columbus Crew and the Crew Soccer Foundation strive to provide unique opportunities in keeping with our status as the state’s – and region’s only professional soccer team. Our Referee Scholarship is designed to increase and support interest in the sport of soccer among at-risk children living in our area.
It is also a vehicle to provide a marketable skill and means of income for girls and boys ages of 14 - 18 who have the desire but not the financial resources to obtain referee training. By providing 15 hours of instruction/hands-on training by certified soccer officials, license certification and a referee kit/stopwatch to each scholar, we offer tools for youth to engage in a fun, healthy opportunity that also provides some economic relief during the current recession.
