More about Greenhouse
Sports and performing arts are powerful tools for engaging with young people and an inspirational way to teach life skills. Those we work with live in areas or attend schools in London crippled by high socioeconomic deprivation. We employ a unique, pioneering full time model, partnering with London schools to provide sessions before, during and after school, with our coaches working 40 hours a week, 48 weeks a year during both term time and holidays.
- Our coaches are mentors and role models as well as qualified and competent specialist coaches
- Programmes are inclusive to all young people and reward those who show willingness and commitment to the programme not just the elite
- Participants have opportunities to meet and interact with people who live in different parts of London and have diverse backgrounds
- Currently working with over 10,000 young people each week through 41 programmes in dance, table tennis, basketball, football and multi-sports in both mainstream and special schools
- Our community clubs, providing training opportunities for our participants, a school to club link and partnership with the local communities
- 55 past participants now involved as volunteers, assistants or coaches
- We are developing children’s committees across all programmes to ensure views are heard "Sport has always been fundamental in my life - what it teaches you goes way beyond the playing field.
At Greenhouse we believe passionately in enriching the lives of disadvantaged young people - we want to teach them essential life skills so they can develop self-respect." Michael de Giorgio, Greenhouse CEO and founder
