During the very difficult time in the Cite Soleil history mostly in 2004 to 2006 the only time there will be a cease fire between rival gang is when there is a big soccer game. The passion everyone will put on the game just watching it was the most inspiring. But for us it was just good to use this energy and channel it toward something more positive.
The idea was to make a team that represents the all community with someone from each neighborhood. The soccer team that was name after Union in the spirit of unification and reconciliation of the all community got a huge recognition of the team for peace. More and more the team use visual message to empower the youth and give the team a statement which is with a dream everything is possible. With a shield for the logo that has four elements: the son for the pride of the neighborhood, the earth: environmental awareness, the peace sign: a call for peace and the ball for the perfect connector to the dream. The effort is put on values and notion of wining and lose have different approach in our practice of reconciling everything
