Where it not for FOX Sports Networks (FSN) supporting the After-School All-Stars (ASAS) national initiative, Sports as a Hook, a unique sports-based youth development program that fulfills ASAS founder Arnold Schwarzenegger’s desire to bring sports to inner city students, many of the students would not have access to sports activities and the important values of teamwork, commitment and hard work that sports impart.
FSN focuses on sports to teach these important values while addressing the obesity crisis in America because the low-income, minority students After-School All-Stars serves are statistically more likely to be overweight and obese, and less likely to have physical education built into their existing school curriculums.
Through FSN’s philanthropic partnership with After-School All-Stars, they facilitate connections with local communities by bringing sports opportunities to students, helping to ensure that they are equipped for success. Ultimately, sports are about supporting a hometown team and deepening ties to a local community. This is especially true in the regional sports business, which is dedicated to local sporting activities. Through their efforts, FSN is supporting hometown communities’ children, thereby creating an “FSN team”.
