The idea of making the project named Football Among Tribes came out of a reality that Papua has more than 300 tribes and each tribe has its own uniqeness. Papua itself is the most eastern part of Indonesia.
Along with the idea of having so many tribes, the project that is using football as a tool for social change was created because of social problems that have been happening in Papua from generation to generation without finding any right solution.
The problems are drugs, free sex, alcoholism, rate participation of education, HIV/AIDS, and also live in the midst of conflict. Those problems are impacting the Papuans, especially the Children and Youth as they are growing up. Their perspective and character are influenced by that kind of cheos on their society.
But then we started to realize that football has an important role amongst Papuans because it is loved by Papuans and Papuans are talented in playing football. In Papua, a Football Coach is more powerful than a School Teacher or a Cop.
Seeing this, Football Among Tribes was made, aimed to gather young Papuans from different tribes through football, protect them from the bad influences, and develop their character.
