More about Field of Hope
The 'Field of Hope' program aims to provide children and youth with a safe environment to cope with the trauma caused by typhoon Yolanda. We focus on using football as a tool to overcome Post traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): by embracing self-empowerment, building leadership skills and high self-esteem, and maintaining a routine that participants can count on. PTSD is a normal reaction to an abnormal situation. Some people who develop symptoms of PTSD heal on their own, however, many continue to have symptoms for years. Sport is a platform for empowerment. Through sports, individuals learn to deal with complex situations and acquire the tools to cope with PTSD.
Mifalot’s training and instruction department develop and upgrade educational material on a daily basis. For this mission, the team started with Mifalot’s flagship program "Through the Field," and adapted it to our local partner in the Philippines; Futkal. Having worked in other disaster affected areas, Mifalot is well-experienced in tackling social issues through combining educational and sport content. This program was adapted to meet the needs of children affected by post-traumatic stress disorder in the Philippines.
