More about Clean Air Champions
Clean Air Champions (CAC) is a Canadian based, bilingual (English, French) registered charity created in 2001. For eleven years CAC has pioneered ground breaking curriculum and non-curriculum programming by delivering educational programs that integrate the issues of environment, sport and health. CAC uses sport to address critical issues facing the developed world today; epidemics are on the rise in lung disease (asthma, bronchitis etc), juvenile diabetes, obesity, heart and organ failure, mental health and more. Who better to deliver our sustainability and health message then high performance athletes and sport heroes – our Champions!
Today we have over 180 Champions;national team, Olympic and Paralympic athletes from a wide range of sports. CAC provides life skills and science of the issues training to every Champion involved in our program delivery. Our Champions also play advisory roles in our programs. As example, we have two Champion advisors helping design our Air Aware Coaches Module.
Our programming is based on the following three themes: 1) EDUCATION: Develop and deliver our pioneering curriculum connected programs that interlink environment, sport and health issues; 2) ENVIRONMENT: Improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change and environmental degradation; and 3) HEALTH: Improve the health of citizens, primarily youth, by increasing levels of physical activity via sport and active modes of transportation.
