More about CaC partnership with FRO
There are thousands of former child soldiers, abductees, orphans, child mothers, victims of rape and other violating crimes living in the Pader district of northern Uganda. As a result of the war and subsequent conflicts these children have experienced atrocities that no child should ever have to endure. Coaches across Continents’ (CaC) project with Friends of Orphans (FRO) uses our unique football curriculum and cascading ‘train the trainers’ model to teach teachers/adult leaders an engaging way to educate children and heal communities.
Our multigenerational program brings together local male and female educators from different social groups and emphasizes female empowerment as a main component of conflict resolution. The CaC curriculum strengthens the psycho-social well-being, improves coping mechanisms and self-reliance, and builds peace-making and conflict resolution skills of these children and the adults that teach them. It also allows them to have some much needed healing fun.
The project results in increased trust, communication, respect, and the breaking down of barriers and prejudices; all building blocks to peaceful conflict resolution. Project outcomes demonstrate that victims of war can have positive futures. CaC’s three-year Hat Trick Initiative commitment to the project builds local capacity and ensures local ownership and sustainable impact.
