More about TRIAD Nkomazi Rush
TRIAD’s plan of action, called TRAIN to SUSTAIN, combines urgently needed HIV, health, and life-skills education with social entrepreneurship, and the venture capital spirit. TRAIN to SUSTAIN has four phases:
- identify community needs and potential leaders within areas hard-hit by HIV/AIDS;
- train identified leaders to create their own community-engaging organizations by providing them with professional development, training and infrastructural guidance;
- implement culturally relevant HIV and life-skills education curricula specifically designed to conquer the root of the HIV/AIDS pandemic;
- withdraw direct training and financial support while maintaining ongoing access to the latest medical resources.
TRIAD Nkomazi Rush offers the only professionally organized, locally managed youth sport league in the region; in addition to attracting youth through soccer and basketball with mandatory health education and HIV testing (~3,500 year-round participants), TRIAD offers school-based interactive performance workshops (~2,500 students), employment opportunities, professional development, and capacity-building. TRIAD equips children, young adults, and adults with a comprehensive understanding of HIV/AIDS, empowering them with the necessary life-skills to make healthy, informed choices, while advancing sport and sportsmanship.
All programs integrate the ideas that each of us has the capacity to stop HIV through our decisions: personal responsibility and community accountability enable success on and off the field.
