More about Twilight Football
Twilight Football uses the power of our National Game to address deep and serious social issues within our local communities, namely anti-social behaviour and community cohesion. The project targets those who are young offenders or in danger of becoming involved in anti-social behaviour through a referral basis via key agencies including local schools, youth groups, social services and youth offending team to name a few. Twilight creates playing opportunities and offers a positive, diversionary activity at a time when anti-social behaviour is most likely to occur.
Working alongside a working group made up of key partners such as the Wiltshire Police, Youth Offending Team and Swindon Borough Council - anti-social behaviour hotspots have been identified and Twilight sessions have been set up in these troubled areas, ultimately removing large groups of young people from the streets. The programme gives the young people within that community the opportunity to release some built up energy in a positive and controlled manner during football sessions. This in turn reduces crime and anti-social behaviour rates whilst building stronger communities.
