More about Tottenham Hotspur Foundation 'Kick & Cook'
Tottenham Hotspur Foundation (THF) has partnered up with the goverments Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Haringey 6th Form Centre (H6FC) to deliver a programme aimed at Key Stage 3 (KS3) students. Using the expertise of the FSA and the H6FC Chefs, five interactive theory and practical sessions have been designed for students in Haringey secondary schools. Kick and Cook uses the power of the Tottenham Hotspur brand to engage pupils in cooking by using THF staff, the environment of a White Hart Lane stadium kitchen, teaching staff from H6FC and Sainsbury’s, Tottenham staff to deliver the different aspect of the programme.
Each session is 2 hours and is run over a 5 week period. The programme aims to increase pupils (11 – 14 years) knowledge of healthy lifestyles, food and hygiene and budgeting. Kick and Cook also aims to help deliver a government objective to make cooking sessions compulsory for all KS3 students by 2011. Kick and Cook also works with the Licence to Cook programme which comes on stream in 2008 which aims to supplement core curriculum around food but is non-statutory.
