More about The Respect Programme
The Respect Programme uses sport to engage young people marginalised by society aged between 5 & 25 years of age using the power of Portsmouth Football Club to attract the 'hard to reach'. The Programme offers developmental opportunities to local children and young people through a range of approaches:
1. Providing a range of evening and weekend coached sporting opportunities free of charge, aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour through the engagement of young people in meaningful sporting opportunities that lead to accreditation, volunteer opportunities and employment;
2. Offering higher levels of support to those most at risk of low educational outcomes, poor school attendance, offending and specific risks associated to health through daytime 'School Inclusion' sessions, supporting young people most in need including an exciting and pioneering disability project.
3. Offering children between 5 and 10 years the opportunity to access quality sporting provision for the first time through our 'Start Up Sports' scheme. Children attend accessing a range of sports to develop skills, fitness and technique with a close focus on developing social skills and cooperation at an early age. The Respect Programme works with local and national partners, delivering award-winning programmes that combine innovation with commitment to supporting the needs of children and young people.
