More about The A Ganar Alliance
Youth unemployment in LAC is a serious problem and is linked to other social problems such as crime, risky behaviours, gang activity and low self-esteem affecting millions. Most affected are marginalized youth in barrios, favelas, and rural areas with little access to quality education or opportunity. A Ganar addresses this need by using a sport-based methodology to help youth develop the skills and confidence required to succeed. At the core of the A Ganar program lie the inherent links between sports skills and employment skills.
To win in the sports world, one needs to understand and practically apply the core values of respect, teamwork, discipline, communication, focus on results, and continued self-improvement. These same skills are those that employers most seek in every applicant. Specially designed games and sport-themed classroom sessions provide a learning rich environment for skill and personal development. Play soccer holding hands with a teammate and learn about teamwork and communication.
Discuss the history of Pele’s number 10 and learn about leadership and responsibility. Build a spreadsheet with a favourite league’s standings and develop math skills. By applying what they’ve learned on the field in life and on the job, youth will be successful.
