More about Take Care Not Risks (TCNR)
SAFC Foundation delivers a multi age, multi sport approach to tackling the obesity issue using key messages such as the importance of 30 minutes of physical activity, 3 times a week. This programme compliments many local and national initiatives such as: healthy schools, food in school teams, kids debit cards, sports coach UK, Every Child Matters, the Children and Young Peoples Plan, Respect agenda, Youth Matters and Choosing Health. It helps to:
- Encourage more exercise and physical activity
- Increase knowledge on healthy lifestyles so young people can make
- informed choices
- Build confidence and self esteem by improving mental health and wellbeing
- Tackle other related health issues and signpost to relevant agencies
- Take learning out to the community using non traditional setting
In Autumn 2009, we will launch our Healthy Bus, that will deliver health MoT’s to people through schools, partnership working and drop in’s. This is another area where the signposter member of staff will help with delivering health messages and helping people to make better informed choices. We have newly qualified staff who can take height and weight to calculate the BMI of individuals and signpost them to the Primary Care Trust to add to national statistics.
