More about Tactics 4 Families
At Liverpool Football Club we believe passionately in the importance of family, and through our community project Tactics 4 Families we seek to address the significant social impact of family breakdown, which in Liverpool is at a considerably higher rate than the national average. A core part of the Tactics 4 Families project is a five session schools programme for children between the ages of 9 and 11 and their families. It is specially designed to use the language and principles of football to convey 7 key messages about family life: Work As A Team, Get Off The Bench, Talk A Good Game, Sing Your Support, Play By The Rules, Get Up; Don’t Give Up, You’ll Never Walk Alone.
The programme consists of 3 classroom lessons, 1 football lesson and 1 session for the children and their parents/carers together. We use quizzes, games, stories and class discussions to emphasize and explore the similarities between the skills needed to be an effective member of a football team and those needed in a family team. We have developed an innovative Tactics 4 Families pack which includes a highly illustrated, vibrant, interactive workbook for the children and families who take part.
