More about Sports for Sharing
“Sports for Sharing” is a civic and educational program that uses the power of games and sports as an inclusive, healthy and fun approach, to generate awareness among children about the 8 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of the United Nations. Through games that involve physical activity, children reflect on global issues such as gender equity or environmental sustainability. The programme is implemented a long a semester.
Our approach is to carry out a constructivist analysis after each game; asking key questions to lead children to discuss their experiences during the game, finding real-life parallelisms and reaching their own conclusions about a specific problem. Moreover, beyond creating awareness among children, we encourage them to think and propose real actions that can be undertaken to achieve a real change in their community. The programme seeks to promote the passion of the children for physical activity and sports, through the promotion of healthy lifestyles.
As an alternative to address and raise awareness about the serious problems of overweight and obesity of Mexican children (Mexico is the country with the biggest problem of obesity worldwide, one out of three children is over weighted or obese).
