More about Sport Community Cash Awards
Sport Community Cash Awards are grants of up to ?5,000 for young people to design and set up sport projects on a voluntary basis that will directly benefit their local community. Young people aged 14 - 25 who are long-term unemployed, educational underachievers, (ex) offenders or care leavers are eligible to take part. Each project is run and managed by young people, they must seek to deal with a local community need and develop a clear benefit to that community. Most importantly the project itself must benefit the young people running the project.
To assist them in the project participants also receive an advisor to support them in setting goals, budgeting, decision making and to assist them in accessing specialist advice for their project. Past awards have included a football team for Kosovan and Serbian refugees, a multi-faith youth football tournament, a partially sighted sailing club and a mixed gender sports club.
