More about Southend Utd in the Community
Southend Utd Community & Educational Trust is a registered charity. Staff and volunteers either lead or assist on a diverse range of activities which focus on the areas of Health and Well Being, Education, Inclusion, Achievement and Environmental Awareness. A good example of the type of involvement by staff is Sarah Potts, who devotes her time to organising and delivering Anti Obesity workshops and fun fitness sessions to children aged between 7 and 12. Sarah also delivers adult health and well being sessions to retired folk in nursing homes, community centres, village halls and even libraries! Our Blues Bodycare and Fit for Life programmes are now supported by the National Health Service.
Other projects run by the Trust include life skills training for 13 to 16 year olds, Railway Safety with Network Rail, Special Needs sessions and many Inclusion projects which give young people meaningful evening activities to participate in at no cost to themselves. Football, Multi Sport, Dance, Music and Play are used to engage with the whole community from age 4 to 94. many of the activities are held at the football ground but mostly within the very heart of the community itself.
