More about San Francisco 49ers Foundation
The mission of the 49ers Foundation is to keep kids “Safe, On Track, and In School.” Recognizing the challenges faced by underresourced youth, since 1996, the 49ers Foundation has assisted the 49ers Academy in East Palo Alto with grants; player, alumni, ownership, staff support; 1000s of tickets; mentorships; facility enhancement; and auction donations, helping to create the unique formula for unparalleled resources to students. In 2013, the 49ers Foundation facilitated donations of $940,780 to the Academy and $3.3M in overall donations to Bay Area non-profits.
The directed focus of the Foundation’s grants as well as the unique hands-on approach is innovative. The 49ers Foundation directs 80% of its annual giving to six non-profits with multi-year, transformational grant investments. The Foundation has an immediate impact on the efficacy of the supported organizations in areas of significant concern. Weekly, during football season, 49ers players perform community service. The majority of projects are with organizations that are beneficiaries of funds from the Foundation. The players feel a strong connection to the organizations and, in turn, the beneficiaries to the 49ers.
