More about Young Achievement Sports for Development
Young Achievement Sports for Development (YASD) operates in a community that is characterized by rampant substance and drug abuse amongst young men and young woman. Many of whom subsequently drop out of school. The organization thus seeks to tackle these twin social ills of drug and substance abuse and illiteracy.
We have noticed that youth who abuse drugs and substances and who are also not interested in pursuing their education become instruments of political violence, crime and terrorism during national elections. Thus because of this heightened state of retrogression that youths end up in, has led YASD to develop the following programme
- Street soccer With Academics (SWA)
- Street soccer Against Aids and Drug Abuse (SAA)
- Recreational therapy and Psychosocial Support for Orphans and Vulnerable Children
These programs give the organization opportunities to extend basic education to the target audience as well as campaign against perilous actions described above. During some sports gatherings various activities are carried out such as workshops and identified boys and girls get an opportunity to have their school fees paid.
