More about Who's Got Game Skills Academy
The WGG ‘Skills Academy’ seeks to engage with young people who seem excluded from the wider community, we specifically target young people in disadvantaged and marginalised communities. Sport is a great vehicle to breakdown social, cultural and area barriers, and open up lines of communication. It is a huge catalyst for change, and has a phenomenal development potential to develop self-confidence and an individual’s sense of purpose.
We are very passionate about social inclusion; through sport we are able to bring individuals from all backgrounds and social statuses together in a relaxed and natural environment that is ideal for exploring serious and sensitive issues, we believe in the power of sport to create lasting individual and social change.
Currently within the UK there seems to be less opportunity for young people, with youth unemployment rates at its highest and a significant rise in youth crime and youth poverty. Our project engages young people and instils hope. Our project uses sport and promotes leadership, teamwork, critical thinking, networking and negotiation skills, all of these competences increase participant’s employability possibilities.
