More about WhizzKids United 'On the Ball'
WhizzKids United 'On the Ball' is a truly unique training curriculum in that it uses football as an analogy to teach essential life skills designed to prevent HIV. Each one of the 16 sessions is made up of football skills or drills which the learners practically take part in and then these skills/drills are related to specific life skills promoting HIV prevention. For example, learning how to turn with the ball on the pitch is related to recognising how and when to turn away from potentially dangerous situations; control of the ball is linked to self control in life.
On the Ball curriculum also follows the story of 'Gracie and Jack' both avid football players who are also meeting the challenges of adolescence and with whom the learners can relate to. On the Ball takes youth out of the classroom and teaches them on the playing field in a fun, engaging and motivational way. Edendale has the highest HIV rates amongst youth anywhere in the world with 1 in 7 infected.
