More about Wests Tigers Healthy Homeless Program
The Wests Tigers Healthy Homeless program uses rugby league to break down the barriers faced by the homeless in regards to physical activity.
The aim of this program is to improve not only the physical health of these homeless participants but also their mental well being.
Each week, participants meet at a local homeless centre where they are fed and then transported to the Wests Tigers training facility. Here, they perform a 60 minute training session, developing their skills, physical activity but also improving their mental health through teamwork, communication and social inclusion.
The power of sport in this program allows us to bring these people together and provide these people with an opportunity that they certainly would not have had otherwise.
