More about U.S. Soccer Foundation
Recognizing the need to address the unique health, social, and safety issues present in under-resourced communities, The U.S. Soccer Foundation operates several sport-for-development initiatives. These include Soccer for Success, Safe Places to Play, Passback, and our Annual Grants program. Soccer for Success, our free afterschool youth development program, is designed to combat childhood obesity and promote healthy lifestyle choices for children in under-resourced urban communities. The program provides children with a safe place to play and trained coaches who provide on-going soccer instruction, mentoring, and nutrition education.
Our Safe Places to Play program provides grants to local organizations to help build or enhance field space in their communities. To date, we have helped create over 1,100 safe places to play. Through our Passback program we encourage organizations and individuals to collect new and gently used soccer equipment for redistribution to children in need. To date, we have collected and redistributed more than 900,000 pieces of soccer equipment to organizations across the world.
Through our Annual Grants program, we provide funding to support soccer programs and field-building initiatives in under-served areas. Grants support all aspects of the beautiful game, from assisting programs with operational costs to creating Safe Places to Play.
