More about Umoya Sports
The 3 specific problems that children and adults with Disabilities face in India, which we refer as ‘Disability crisis’ are–
I.Lack of programs and opportunities for PwD
II.No physical education/ activities leading to health problems
III.Denial of participation due to social stigma and misconceptions towards PwD
A combination of all these challenges result in the fact that currently out of 26.8 million People with Disabilities in India, 46% are uneducated, 39% drop out from school and huge 63% of population is unemployed.
Umoya Sports bridges this gap by empowering students with disabilities by providing holistic education to children and adults with disabilities through ‘Joy of Sports’ and equipping them with skills needed to lead an enriching life.
Our flagship program, Joy of Play, is a progressive, year-long sports program curated for students with Intellectual Disabilities and Special Needs, implemented during school hours in special schools.
The 4 Pillars of 'Joy of Play' that steer critical change are:
i.Curriculum
ii.Coaching
iii.108 hours
iv.Inclusion
