More about U-14 Mighty Girls Development Team
For girls to play football in Cambodia is to challenge nearly everything it means to be a woman. Khmer girls are supposed to be gentle, reserved and obedient. Playing football goes against everything that is traditional for Khmer girls. However, more and more girls and women are redefining what it means to be a woman in Cambodia. U-14 Mighty Girls Development team creates opportunities for young women to become role models at the local level.
The girls develop confidence and leadership abilities on and off the field. While also playing on the Cambodian U-14 National team gives them opportunities most Cambodian will next get to experience with International travel and cultural education.
The aim of the U-14 Mighty Girls program is to prevent individual cases of human trafficking before it starts by empowering and supporting exceptional young female players in education and training that come from low socio-educationalbackgrounds.
16 young players receive special support in both education and football. They receive extra English and Computer classes, as well as Life Skill lesson are just a small amount of support given to them.
