More about The Story of QPR
The Story of Queens Park Rangers combines football with a unique hook of media to engage with young people, fans and the local area surrounding West London. The project has brought together the rich heritage of a 133 year old club and its ties within the community through a varied number of media, including a 60 minute documentary, music track, podcast, memorabilia event & learning resources for schools.
The project has done this by empowering young people between the ages of 16 & 25 most of whom were not currently in education, employment or training by equipping them with a range of skills and experience to broaden their horizons. From the amazing access the club has given, the young people have collected archive and stories from an array of contributors from the past and present. They have taken a leading role with support from media professionals, fans groups and local historians and have been taught and guided through the research, planning, production and direction of the project outputs.
This has resulted in our young people building confidence, team work, on the job experience for their CV’s & a chance to learn about the stories of a community from the prism of football.
