More about TASEM - Training Athletes for Sport Events Management
TASEM is an innovative learning mobility sport programme fostering inter-cultural dialogue among young athletes from the Mediterranean Basin and empowering them to find a job or to become entrepreneurs in the field of sport event management. Elite athletes keep experiencing difficulties to combine sports training with educational pathways lacking often enough preparation for their future life after sports careers have ended. Besides, academic programmes do not often allow them to combine their demanding sport training and competition schedule with the academic curricula, especially they cannot take advantage of existing learning mobility opportunities. TASEM facilitates dual career of elite athletes but also responds develops new ways to optimise sport events as a source to generate jobs, entrepreneurship and a lasting social and educational impact, in a region (Mediterranean Basin) with the highest unemployment rates. Last but not least, it is opening ways for concrete intercultural dialogue amongst countries of the Northern and Southern Mediterranean basin, including promotion of dual careers amongst women in a region where particular attention needs to be paid to gender balance.
