More about Soccer for Success
The U.S. Soccer Foundation helps young people embrace an active and healthy lifestyle and cultivate critical life skills through the game of soccer. Placing an emphasis on underserved communities, our programming aims to address two major barriers to healthy communities: lack of adequate and safe playing spaces and lack of structured physical activity opportunities during the out-of-school times hours.
Soccer for Success, our after-school program, is proven to help kids establish healthy habits and develop critical life skills. Participants learn about eating right and other ways to stay healthy through an integrated curriculum that is fun engaging, while getting the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity through each practice. Trained coach-mentors serve as role models and engage families regularly to connect them with resources and information to help them live healthy lifestyle and nurture their child’s personal growth, making Soccer for Success a hub for wrap-around services. Because of the program, 90 percent of participants who were categorized as overweight or obese improved or maintained their BMI percentile.
