More about Snow-Camp
In the UK today, more than two million children and young people face the daily reality of financial disadvantage, with the majority living in inner city areas. Evidence suggests that more than 1.2 million of these young people will fail to achieve five GCSE’s and have a 25% chance of being Not in Education, Employment or Training within two years of leaving school. Gang membership continues to attract inner city young people who feel they have little else to aspire too, leading almost inevitably to social problems and criminal activity.
Snow-Camp is the UK’s only registered charity using a combination of snowsports, life skills and employment training to engage inner-city young people. We offer an alternative approach to engage youth-at-risk by providing an energising environment at artificial ski slopes in the UK in order for them to build relationships, gain qualifications and employment. Our programmes require initiative, individuality and courage and therein lies the attraction and challenge providing a much-needed complimentary service to youth organisations working closely with those in local authority care, in the youth justice system and excluded from education.
