More about Skatepark Rwanda: a place for international understanding

Together with SOS Rwanda who takes care about children and young people in Kigali since 1979, we want to strengthen girls and boys mentally and physically. Many of our children suffer from anxiety have behavioral problems, retire or are aggressive. By the identity-creating-skateboarding children develop a completely new self-confidence. They learn to overcome obstacles, to continue after falling and to help each other. As self-determined sport skateboarding encourages creativity and motivation. Thus, that girls and boys get benefit regardless of their background and of ethnic origins in using the park and that they are also trained by international voluntary Skateboard coaches, the project contributes to a great international understanding. In the skate park the kids find a sheltered place where they can develop freely, without being affected by violence, drugs, crime, or ethnic conflicts. Due skating can have omitted fun, be a child again, forget the often difficult daily life and leave the past behind for a short time. Cheer up, develop a new self-confidence and make new friends.
