More about skate-aid: Namibia 2018
We support children in their personal development through pedagogically guided skateboarding. We provide additional educational opportunities to promote the development of youth identity and raising self-worth through workshops (skate & create, graffiti, strengthening the individual as well as groups). Finally, we work closely with project partners and schools in the range of the project. In this specific Namibia project, skate-Aid is working in collaboration with three schools, each focused at pupils who are afflicted with hearing, visual or mental impairment. Here we intend to address issues of inclusion regarding both gender and the disabled, ensuring participants improve their health and esteem while having fun and maintaining a consistent school attendance.
This is skate-aid’s ethos; a non-discriminative, all welcoming support agency that approaches children at a young age, allowing them to mature within a wider culture and community. Those privileged enough to experience the service skate-aid provides, leave with a sense of accomplishment; they learn the value of effort and the hard work necessary to reach their goals.
