More about Sehat - Community Health through Sports
YFC uses sports in its programs,as we believe that a sport has the power to transform lives. We believe that sport leads to healthy life both physically and mentally. Therefore,it was natural that YFC would use sport as a catalyst to bring change in communities in the area of health also.Through YFC’s Sports for development program,it works with children/youth in 40 schools/communities and delivers sessions designed to give message on health and hygiene issues and preventable diseases through its Youth Mentors.YFC’s sports program is geared towards utilizing free time of children/youth and channelizes their energies in positive direction, thereby keeping them healthy and away from drugs.YFC has successfully integrated its sports program in its protocol of therapies.Special needs children are delivered Play and Sports therapies on designated days.Like in most rural areas of India, the health facilities in rural Punjab are still struggling against even preventable diseases.Punjab is also dealing with drug menace that threatens to become health catastrophe. Moreover, amidst the continuous struggle between scarce resources and competing priorities, the disabled population gets left behind.
