HYDO is a non-partisan Non-Governmental and non-profit venture. The organization was founded to improve the socio-economic and wellbeing of marginalized people especially youth and children who live in the rural areas of Ghana. HYDO is committed to improving the knowledge, skills and abilities of the youth for national socio-economic development. The organization also protects the rights of disadvantaged and needy youth and children in low-income areas and urban centers through the provision of psychological, educational, social and economic support systems.
HYDO uses sport, drama and traditional dancing activities to ensure that there is increase in school enrolment and retention. Through sport and other drama activities, the youth and children are educated to be aware of the effect of the causes, spread and prevention of HIV/AIDS and communicable disease.
The organization believes that there are capable people, youth and children in the local communities who have the potential to create a better life for themselves, but they need support and resources and as such its focus.
