We lack the gender specific support systems required to maintain sustainable retention rates at the local level and subsequently it becomes difficult to produce young & competent local Match Officials that have the potential to be appointed to the US National Referee Panel. We believe that increased funding for a reward based participation system partnered with increased access to local and regional female specific support systems will increase female Match Official retention & participation rates. Representational gender equality among Match Officials increases female leadership & visibility in a male dominated contact sport which increases female role models for all youth participants.
