More about Rodeo Read Trip
Each February the San Antonio Spurs (NBA) and Rampage (AHL) embark on what sportscasters have affectionately dubbed the "Rodeo Road Trip," a 2.5 week long road trip as the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo takes over our arena. We harnessed the energy of our 250 employees and unleashed the Rodeo Read Trip, an initiative that targets low literacy rates in our arena's neighborhood elementary and middle schools. (Just under half - 47% - of students in our neighborhood do not read on grade level.)
With one on one attention and the power of the Spurs and Rampage brand, we strive to motivate students to improve their reading abilities through innovative technology, interactive lessons and incentives like tickets, mascot appearances, branded bookmarks and more! We believe in the power of sport for authentic social change, and we leverage the power of our brand through individual interaction and buy-in from schools and students.
One of our corporate areas of focus is our arena neighborhood. When we thought about the different needs we always came back to literacy. With increased literacy rates studies show we can decrease health issues and juvenile crime and increase job opportunities
