More about RIDE GREEN
Being a motorised sports federation, our athletes and organisers, in the past, did not really realise the importance of the environment and its protection when practising their favourite sport. To develop a conscience and a better understanding of environmental issues within our sport, the FIM created in 1994 an Environmental Code containing recommendations and obligations to be respected at our events that reinforces the FIM’s aim to have a sustainable policy in the organisation of our events. Moreover, since 1997, an FIM Environmental Award has been presented every year to reward a significant contribution to the protection of the environment.
In 2007, a new FIM Environmental Awareness programme called RIDE GREEN was launched by using the celebration of the World Environment Day to implement actions to be taken at FIM events (such as the planting of trees, a recycling policy, and awareness campaigns) with the aim of improving our events and the behaviour of the participants in cooperation with UNEP. Furthermore, an “FIM Environmental Logo” was also created to head all environmental actions taken within the motorcycling world in order to unify all actions under the same “flag” and provide a better visibility.
