More about Responsible Event Framework Helps Cities Leverage Sport Towards Sustainability Goals
The 'Responsible Event Framework' features an inclusive vision of sustainability commonly known as the “triple bottom lines” of planetary health, social well being & justice, and economic development. This project addresses the livability and vitality of cities by showing how applying a lens of broader benefit beyond the bottom line at sporting events can result in measurable benefits to event host communities.
We believe that sport events, participant or spectator focused, are catalysts for action in the places they are staged. Solving the climate crisis will require 'all hands on deck' and therefore sport, as an inspirational peaceful globally adopted concept, has an inspirational leadership role to play. The best leaders on the field lead by example--we're taking that theme off the field of play and applying it to the way we host events, to be a visible example in the community of what a more sustainable, equitable, healthier future looks like, and to engage people with those concepts.
