More about Project GOAL
We service soccer loving communities where students have limited access to organized soccer clubs due to fees and transportation barriers. 79% of PG Families have income at or below poverty level. We use soccer as a tool, and provide a free program, including soccer coaching, clinics with MLS players and tournaments against other clubs, in exchange for a commitment to education. 90 minutes in classroom earns 90 minutes on soccer field. Students must attend our tutoring sessions and submit report cards each quarter. Together we set goals in pursuit of higher education and excellent academic standards.
Socioeconomic status appears to create achievement gaps for Black and Hispanic children, when compared to the achievement levels of White children. 92% of PG students fit this demographic where an average graduation rate is 72%. One thing these families do have in common is their LOVE for soccer. 63% of PG student households do not speak English at home. We staff bi-lingual teachers and offer parents guidance to benefit their kids' academic and sport careers. Project GOAL provides a reputable and successful program to all middle school students since 2004.
