More about Playdagogy
Disabled children face barriers in sport & society: inclusive activities are scarce, which fuels bias & leads to further isolation. Research show that attitudes toward disabled people improve through frequent interactions between mixed ability groups.
We prevent discrimination & empower disabled children by encouraging positive interactions between children of all abilities, helping disabled children feel more included, but also foster non-disabled children’s empathy & understanding.
Playdagogy inserts educational messages into sporting activities to teach children about challenges related to disability, inclusion & discrimination by using experiential learning & symbolic interaction, enabling them to explore ways to overcome these issues by critically reflecting on their environment, social attitudes & behaviour.
Our curriculum targets different aspects of disability discrimination. Through multistage sports-based activities, children negotiate situations requiring them to think differently & reflect on the barriers disabled people face. The games enhance children’s sporting abilities, thinking & social skills, while reinforcing understanding through discussion & debate.
