More about Pass It Back
Pass It Back is an extremely successful, innovative Sport for Development program that uses rugby to equip children and young people in disadvantaged communities in Asia to overcome challenges, inspire positive social change and ‘pass it back’ to their communities. The ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) is now a reality, and whilst seeking equitable growth and prosperity for member states and their 600 million citizens, it also presents new risks and increases vulnerability for the most disadvantaged citizens, especially girls and women. Unlike other sport for development programs, Pass It Back focuses on an unknown sport in most of Asia, meaning fewer barriers for women and girls to participate. This is a unique opportunity to level the playing field and not only remove cultural barriers to accessing sport, but also develop leadership roles for girls and women in the traditionally male-dominated field of sport. Pass It Back brings together partners who have expertise in child rights, women’s rights and rugby, with the convergence of partners’ experiences and expertise creating an opportunity for an innovative partnership model that will allow scale and impact across the continent.
