More about ParkLives
ParkLives’ social objective is to help tackle physical inactivity, improve mental wellbeing and improve community cohesion in the, often disadvantaged, communities in which it works.
This is Coca-Cola Great Britain’s focus because it helps deliver our corporate commitment to be a responsible citizen that makes a difference by helping build and support sustainable communities – and as part of our commitment to inspiring 1m people to be active by 2020.
ParkLives helps address barriers to activity: bespoke local sessions (not ‘sports’) are tailored using local insights. They are free, fun, catering for all abilities and at relevant times. Sociable activities range from rounders and Zumba to den-building and dog walking. Access to green space is proven to get people more active and improve mood.
ParkLives champions parks as strategic community hubs where activities and interests collide. Most LAs deliver ParkLives near disadvantaged areas.
Inter-generational participation is encouraged: welcoming session leaders help new mums, older adults, families and young people to build confidence and make friends. Consistent scheduling encourages repeat visits.
