More about Parc fitness academy
In partnership our objective was to establish a ‘Parc Fitness Academy at HMP Parc Prison’ with the Young People. We deliver educational PE and further enhance and equip young people for their pro-social and healthier futures.
Our aim has been to create a modern Parc Fitness Academy which was suitable for young people with various educational and learning needs as well as varying health levels by providing areas and knowledge of fitness appealing to everyone. We have achieved this and are in the process of developing even more.
To quote “Attention has been focussed on how the delivery of sport in prisons can confer benefits in terms of improving prisoners health and wellbeing, promoting social control, improving quality of life in prison, facilitating behavioural change and supporting rehabilitation.” (Prison service journal September 2013 No209)
In partnership 2nd Chance Project, St Giles Trust, Newport Positive Futures and the Juvenile PE Tutor at HMP Parc that come from both England & Wales – working together with the young people in the prison and through the gate – helping each and every one of them to ‘Believe and Achieve’ within themselves and their society.
