More about Outdoor Adventure Sports Program for Young Adults Impacted by Cancer
First Descents (FD) is a Colorado-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides life-changing outdoor adventure programs for young adults impacted by cancer. First Descents predominantly serves young adult cancer survivors, ages 18 – 39, with a limited number of program offerings for adult survivors (ages 40 – 50) and caregivers.
First Descents offers authentic outdoor adventures in a supportive environment. Participants experience the physical and emotional highs and lows inherent to kayaking, surfing and climbing, and are empowered to move beyond simply surviving cancer. By channeling the powerful force of time spent in nature, participants are encouraged to approach the future as they would paddle a first descent: with confidence, determination and a strong support team.
