More about MVP and All-Star Staff Development
It has been noted yearly in the Annual Report of the Presidency of South Africa that unemployment for youth (commonly referred to as aged 16 to 24) remains a barrier to the development of the South African Western Cape. It is often cited that insufficient skills and opportunities for youth are reasons why employment is hard to secure, a fact which is exacerbated by widespread social problems and challenges that youth are facing in their environment: family violence; high levels of crime, gang formation; the exclusion of the socially week and minority groups; health risks, especially HIV/AIDS; discrimination of and violence against girls and woman; alcoholism and addiction to drugs.
Through empowering youth to be coaches and positive role models, sport can contribute to the personal and social development of both the coaches and players. Moreover, with our innovative curriculum, sport can be used as a tool to help develop the critical life skills that youth are lacking. Such activity can build competence, confidence, character, caring and connection enabling young people to developing self-efficacy that will improve their prospects and social mobility.
