More about Move
Move is a sports-based social inclusion project that aims to engage and support young people into wider education, training and employment opportunities. The project is delivered from Roehampton University and the project aims to work with young people living on the Alton Estate and surrounding area in Wandsworth. The Alton Estate has high levels of social deprivation, anti social behaviour and crime. It is the 2nd most deprived ward in the borough. Move uses sport, dance and physical activity to engage with local young people, their families and the local community. Move has the following aims - To deliver sports based activities that engage with local young people and provide a positive experience. To support local partners in the delivery of sport for young people.
To provide training and vocational opportunities for local young people. To increase access of University facilities to the local community. To utilise the knowledge and expertise of staff and students at the University for young people and the community. Much of the work Move does involves working with local partners and agencies. Move has developed strong relationships within the local community. The project works closely with a local charity called Regenerate as well as the Roehampton Youth Inclusion Project. More recently, Move has developed projects in partnerhip with Roehampton Extended Schools Service and is delivering holiday activities in partnership with the service.
