Our programming counteracts the impact poverty has on education and income mobility in America. With our academic intervention programming and character development- we use rugby as a platform to achieve intense, high-impact results that help young people escape cyclical poverty through expanded opportunities. Buy placing inspiring leaders as the coaches of a challenging sport, our students become deeply invested in their team and the standards of accountability each MICR team holds. Through this dynamic, we expose students to competition, yoga, travel, nutrition, fitness, tutoring, mentoring, leadership, and a culture of achievement. The educational deficits our children face are harsh and unfair. We think it is wrong that a child’s future can often be determined by the neighborhood they grow up in- or the school they attend. We’ve seen the amazingly vibrant talent and spirit of Memphis’ youth be watered down by educational inequity and lack of opportunity. By creating opportunities through sport- and focusing on closing the educational gaps- we know we can change the city of Memphis, and the world, through its children.
